Hello my Dragons!
Our next book publication is almost here and I am jazzed. "Children of the Black" by WJ Long III will be released in only two weeks on Friday, March 25, 2022, on a wide variety of platforms for both digital and physical copies.
"Children of the Black" has been a book that we have discussed and showcased a lot in the past few months. As many of you are aware, we held a vote for the book's cover between two excellent artistic interpretations that went in different directions. We got a lot of votes not only here on our website but on our social media pages as well (follow those if you aren't already. We are on FaceBook, Twitter, and Instagram). I'm very pleased with the cover that won and it was the cover that I voted for in the PD staff vote.
We also released a free digital preview of the book that you can still access. Check it out here! But be warned, you'll likely get so hooked that you'll be compelled to buy the entire book. I just love the tagline on the preview: Every Secret has a Silver Lining. It works on its own but so well in the context of the book.
If somehow you have missed us talking about this awesome Science Fiction novel, I'll give you the basics. "Children of the Black" has five main characters, all with their own priorities and ambitions. All five are connected in some way with a mysterious chain of events on a research space station called Firaxis. One is a young, spunky girl called Vision. She has psionic powers that she doesn't know how to control or how she got them in the first place. Her guardian, a private investigator named Claude, has been infected with a parasitic alien life form as a result of the events on the Firaxis Station. This silver parasite inside him gives him physical capabilities well beyond that of a normal human but each use of those abilities comes at a cost. A large conspiracy looms over Vision and Claude as they get caught in a web of mystery, deceit, betrayal, paranoia, and revenge. Between their abilities, Claude and Vision are a formidable pair but even they might not be enough to survive the chaos of the situation that they've gotten themselves into.
After a thousand years of war, a scarred humanity struggles to carve a path free of its shadow, but old habits die hard. In this trying time, a former mercenary and a young girl with psionic gifts are tasked with finding what remains of a failed project that once had the potential to bring about lasting peace. With remnants of their pasts returning to lay claim on their future, the two must learn to depend on one another if they have any hope of keeping a new conflict from burning its way throughout the known universe.
WJ Long III is already hard at work on the next book in the Children of the Black series. This book will continue where the first left off and explore a wider portion of the galaxy. Keep your eye out for further announcements on "Children of the Black: The Hound of Greyvor." You can catch up with the author on Twitter @WJLongIII where you'll find updates on upcoming projects, insight into his inspiration, and discussions on film/tv, gaming, and all things geek culture.
Thankfully, you don't have to wait much longer for this book to arrive on the shelves. "Children of the Black" will be published on all of Private Dragon's regular multitude of platforms in both digital and physical copies on Friday, March 25th, 2022, just a few weeks from now!
